                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending Diane Jones; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 2  WHEREAS, Diane Jones is widely recognized throughout Douglas 
  1- 3  County as the personification of excellence in education; 
  1- 4  and 
 
  1- 5  WHEREAS, this highly respected teacher has served with honor 
  1- 6  and distinction as a professional educator in the Douglas 
  1- 7  County School System since 1983 and is a teacher at Fairplay 
  1- 8  Middle School; and 
 
  1- 9  WHEREAS, she believes that because of her own experiences 
  1-10  her contribution to education should be the same as that 
  1-11  made to her by all of the educators who never gave up on 
  1-12  her; and 
 
  1-13  WHEREAS, she believes that she can make a difference in the 
  1-14  lives of children by showing that questioning is a strength 
  1-15  rather than a weakness, that she cares for her students, and 
  1-16  that they may always find safety and comfort in her 
  1-17  classroom; and 
 
  1-18  WHEREAS, her accomplishments show that she has lived 
  1-19  according to those beliefs; and 
 
  1-20  WHEREAS, in recognition of her outstanding dedication to 
  1-21  academic achievement, she was selected as the 1999 Douglas 
  1-22  County Teacher of the Year; and 
 
  1-23  WHEREAS, she is a shining example of the important impact 
  1-24  that the efforts of individual classroom teachers are making 
  1-25  on the quality of education received by the children of this 
  1-26  state and it is abundantly fitting and proper that her 
  1-27  superlative accomplishments be recognized appropriately. 
 
  1-28  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-29  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body heartily and 
  1-30  gratefully commend Diane Jones for her many years of 
  1-31  sacrifice, foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on 
  1-32  behalf of education in Georgia and for the positive 
  1-33  influence she has had upon the lives and futures of 
  1-34  countless young people in this state and congratulate her

  2- 1  upon her selection as the 1999 Douglas County Teacher of the 
  2- 2  Year. 
 
  2- 3  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  2- 4  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
