                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending Anne Marie Eaton and inviting her to appear 
  1- 2  before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, Anne Marie Eaton was born on November 26, 1907, in 
  1- 4  Mannheim, Germany; she moved to Georgia in 1938 after 
  1- 5  Germany invaded Austria; and she has lived in the Atlanta 
  1- 6  area ever since, residing in DeKalb County for the past 45 
  1- 7  years; and 
 
  1- 8  WHEREAS, the Georgia Council on Aging has chosen to honor 
  1- 9  her as the Distinguished Senior Georgian of 1999 in 
  1-10  recognition of her contributions to her community and state 
  1-11  and the positive role model she represents for the young and 
  1-12  the young at heart; and 
 
  1-13  WHEREAS, Senior Week at the Capitol has been established to 
  1-14  recognize the valuable contributions older Georgians have 
  1-15  made to our state and will be observed the week of January 
  1-16  25-29, 1999; and the United Nations has designated this year 
  1-17  as the International Year of Older Persons in support of 
  1-18  worldwide recognition of seniors; and 
 
  1-19  WHEREAS, Anne Marie Eaton pursued her interest in commercial 
  1-20  art upon moving to Georgia, graduated from Georgia Tech in 
  1-21  industrial engineering, and worked as an industrial engineer 
  1-22  for Sears and Lockheed. She received her masters degree in 
  1-23  sociology with a focus in gerontology at Georgia State 
  1-24  University, worked as director of patient relations at 
  1-25  Kingsford Nursing Home, and serves as a technical writer and 
  1-26  consultant on aging; and 
 
  1-27  WHEREAS, in 1976, she co-founded Life Enrichment Services, a 
  1-28  nonprofit organization that offers fitness, educational, and 
  1-29  social service programs that aid in sustaining the 
  1-30  independence and dignity of seniors, and she continues to 
  1-31  serve as a volunteer.  Meanwhile this senior has eagerly 
  1-32  kept pace with information technology and is an avid user of 
  1-33  the Internet and electronic mail. 
 
  1-34  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-35  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and 
  1-36  commend Anne Marie Eaton as the Distinguished Senior

  2- 1  Georgian and invite her to appear before the House of 
  2- 2  Representatives at a date and time to be determined by the 
  2- 3  Speaker of the House. 
 
  2- 4  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  2- 5  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
