                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Recognizing and commending the SkyeLite Jazz Band of 
  1- 2  Savannah Arts Academy; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, the SkyeLite Jazz Band of Savannah Arts Academy, 
  1- 4  formerly known as the Blue Light Jazz Band, was formed in 
  1- 5  August, 1992, under the direction of Mr. Michael Hutchinson 
  1- 6  and Dr. John Bradley; and 
 
  1- 7  WHEREAS, these  talented musicians have been designated as 
  1- 8  Ambassadors of Goodwill by President Clinton and as Official 
  1- 9  Ambassadors of Goodwill from the State of Georgia by 
  1-10  Governor Zell Miller; and 
 
  1-11  WHEREAS, the SkyeLite Jazz Band has enthraled numerous 
  1-12  audiences around the world with the musical talent and skill 
  1-13  of its members, including performances in London, England, 
  1-14  and at the Orlando Music Festival, the Jackson State Music 
  1-15  Festival, the Olympic Trials Opening Ceremony and the 
  1-16  Olympic Closing Ceremony in Savannah, and performances on 
  1-17  the steps of the United States Capitol; and 
 
  1-18  WHEREAS, on April 14, 1999, the band will represent the 
  1-19  State of Georgia in the State Days Series on the Millennium 
  1-20  Stage at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts 
  1-21  in Washington, D.C.; and 
 
  1-22  WHEREAS, Mr. Andrae Mutchison, the band's trombonist, has 
  1-23  been selected as one of 18 participants in the Georgia Music 
  1-24  Educators Association 1999 All-State Jazz Band and is the 
  1-25  first member of this prestigious band from Chatham County 
  1-26  since 1984; and 
 
  1-27  WHEREAS, the impressive record of accomplishment 
  1-28  demonstrated by this fine jazz band is the result of the 
  1-29  hard work, dedication, and musical talent displayed by each 
  1-30  member of the SkyeLite Jazz Band and the leadership and 
  1-31  direction of Mr. Michael Hutchinson and Dr. John Bradley. 
 
  1-32  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-33  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and 
  1-34  commend the SkyeLight Jazz Band of Savannah Arts Academy for 
  1-35  the enjoyment and pleasure which these distinguished and 
  1-36  talented musicians have brought to countless people around

  2- 1  the world and for the exemplary manner in which they serve 
  2- 2  as musical ambassadors for the State of Georgia. 
 
  2- 3  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  2- 4  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit 
  2- 5  appropriate copies of this resolution to the SkyeLight Jazz 
  2- 6  Band of Savannah Arts Academy and to each person named in
