                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Honoring the memory of Herbert Eugene Belcher; and for other 
  1- 2  purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, Herbert Eugene Belcher was born December 9, 1928, 
  1- 4  in Cuthbert, Georgia; and 
 
  1- 5  WHEREAS, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1946 and 
  1- 6  served his country with courage and distinction for over 20 
  1- 7  years; and 
 
  1- 8  WHEREAS, he was killed in combat in the Vietnam War on March 
  1- 9  31, 1969, near Tra Cu, South Vietnam; and 
 
  1-10  WHEREAS, he was a beloved member of the community in Coffee 
  1-11  County, where he was survived by his wife Maurice and four 
  1-12  children; and 
 
  1-13  WHEREAS, the State of Georgia and his country owe a great 
  1-14  debt of gratitude to this native son for his selfless 
  1-15  sacrifice in military service. 
 
  1-16  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-17  REPRESENTATIVES that this body hereby honors the memory of 
  1-18  Herbert Eugene Belcher and expresses its deep and abiding 
  1-19  gratitude for his exemplary life of service to his country. 
 
  1-20  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-21  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-22  appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Herbert
