                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending the Town of Braselton for its appreciation of the 
  1- 2  past and preparation for its future and inviting the mayor 
  1- 3  and Town Council of Braselton to appear before the House of 
  1- 4  Representatives; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 5  WHEREAS, the Town Council of Braselton purchased a historic 
  1- 6  home built in 1909 by William Henry and Pallie Darby 
  1- 7  Braselton; and 
 
  1- 8  WHEREAS, renovations began in 1995 to restore the home to 
  1- 9  its original splendor, preserving the historical 
  1-10  significance of the period; and 
 
  1-11  WHEREAS, special provisions were incorporated into the 
  1-12  renovation plan to allow utilization of the building as a 
  1-13  town hall for civic purposes; and 
 
  1-14  WHEREAS, this building buttressed by massive columns and 
  1-15  surrounded by a classic veranda upholds the grand tradition 
  1-16  of southern architecture; and 
 
  1-17  WHEREAS, this building houses offices of the Town of 
  1-18  Braselton including those of the mayor, council, clerks, 
  1-19  water department, and business licenses; and 
 
  1-20  WHEREAS, the town hall was officially dedicated on October 
  1-21  23, 1998, "for civic purposes and in honor of the citizens 
  1-22  of Braselton, Georgia, USA"; and 
 
  1-23  WHEREAS, the town hall offers a place to come together for 
  1-24  community goodness and abundant good relations among the 
  1-25  citizens, and will help the Town of Braselton maintain its 
  1-26  identity and character, as it is a source of community 
  1-27  pride, and is a place which will attract tourists, new 
  1-28  homeowners, and economic opportunities to Braselton. 
 
  1-29  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-30  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend and 
  1-31  congratulate the Town of Braselton for its worthy 
  1-32  accomplishments in historic preservation while planning for 
  1-33  the future. 
 
  1-34  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the mayor and Town Council of 
  1-35  Braselton are invited to appear before the House of

  2- 1  Representatives on a date and time to be determined by the 
  2- 2  Speaker of the House of Representatives. 
 
  2- 3  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  2- 4  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit 
  2- 5  appropriate copies of this resolution to the mayor and the
