                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  In memory of Marianne Webster; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 2  WHEREAS, Marianne Webster will long be remembered by her 
  1- 3  wide circle of friends, fellow citizens, and beloved family 
  1- 4  for her talents and commitment; and 
 
  1- 5  WHEREAS, she was a truly remarkable woman, a loving partner 
  1- 6  to her husband Jim with whom she shared 30 years, an 
  1- 7  understanding parent to their two adult children, a former 
  1- 8  professional chef, and an avid Atlanta Lawn Tennis 
  1- 9  Association champion who decided to run for public office as 
  1-10  a candidate for the Georgia House of Representatives; and 
 
  1-11  WHEREAS, she was a woman who believed in women and actively 
  1-12  supported women gaining political power; and she valued the 
  1-13  strength that diversity offered to women united in this 
  1-14  quest for equity and effectiveness; and 
 
  1-15  WHEREAS, her openness to the concerns of others, her 
  1-16  diligence on behalf of social justice, and her deep faith in 
  1-17  humankind and its institutions made Marianne Webster an 
  1-18  extraordinary individual and a memorable candidate; and 
 
  1-19  WHEREAS, she was president-elect of Women's Action for New 
  1-20  Directions (WAND), a national organization encouraging 
  1-21  leadership and activism on contemporary issues, and her 
  1-22  energy and enlightenment will be remembered by many. 
 
  1-23  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-24  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body express their 
  1-25  sympathy to the family of Marianne Webster whose public 
  1-26  service was interrupted but whose spirit will be honored 
  1-27  through generous support of WAND's "Marianne's Fund" and the 
  1-28  public interests she held dear. 
 
  1-29  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-30  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-31  appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of 
  1-32  Marianne Webster.
