                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending and congratulating the Glennville Major Girls 
  1- 2  Softball Team; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, the Glennville Major Girls Softball Team won the 
  1- 4  GPRA Class C State Tournament Championship for 1998; and 
 
  1- 5  WHEREAS, this is the first state championship team in this 
  1- 6  age group, 18 and under, for Glennville since the recreation 
  1- 7  department was established in 1973; and 
 
  1- 8  WHEREAS, some team members had been working hard through the 
  1- 9  midget, juniors, and seniors to sharpen their skills and 
  1-10  develop their teamwork; and 
 
  1-11  WHEREAS, the remarkable Glennville team moved through the 
  1-12  field of eight without a loss, defeating Miller County 10 to 
  1-13  8, Baxley 6 to 4, Lumpkin County 8 to 5, and Lumpkin County 
  1-14  13 to 4; and 
 
  1-15  WHEREAS, Glennville's leading hitters during the tournament 
  1-16  were Casey Ellis, Nicole Mincey, Brook Jarriel, Leslie 
  1-17  Simmons, Abigale Durrence, Kelli Lynn, and Mindy Swain; and 
 
  1-18  WHEREAS, the team's coaches awarded the game ball to Kelli 
  1-19  Lynn, the stalwart of the team's excellent defensive 
  1-20  efforts; and 
 
  1-21  WHEREAS, Coaches Bran Thompson, Charles A. Simmons, and 
  1-22  Richard Whittaker encouraged the team to excel in the short 
  1-23  few weeks following district play; and 
 
  1-24  WHEREAS, James McGowan and the Glennville Recreation 
  1-25  Department were the gracious and efficient hosts for the 
  1-26  tournament; and 
 
  1-27  WHEREAS, the exemplary performance of the team members and 
  1-28  their coaches will forever be a golden part of Tattnall 
  1-29  County's sports history and serve as a goal for the 
  1-30  strivings of future teams. 
 
  1-31  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-32  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend and 
  1-33  congratulate the members and coaches of the Glennville Major 
  1-34  Girls Softball Team, State Champions.

  2- 1  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  2- 2  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  2- 3  appropriate copy of this resolution to the Glennville
