                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Recognizing and commending Leroy Simmons; and for other 
  1- 2  purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, Leroy Simmons of Savannah, Georgia, completed a 
  1- 4  long, dedicated career with the Georgia Ports Authority as 
  1- 5  he retired on December 30, 1999; and 
 
  1- 6  WHEREAS, for 28 years he served with the utmost reliability 
  1- 7  in the maintenance department of this state agency that is 
  1- 8  so important to Georgia's coastal economy; and 
 
  1- 9  WHEREAS, Bubba, as he is lovingly known to his family and 
  1-10  friends, is a long-standing member of St. John's Baptist 
  1-11  Church where he sings with the Sons of Zion Male Chorus and 
  1-12  contributes significantly to the church worship services and 
  1-13  special religious programs; and 
 
  1-14  WHEREAS, he is also a senior member of the Local and 
  1-15  National Chapters of the James Cleveland Gospel Music 
  1-16  Workshop of America, where he has been involved for over 30 
  1-17  years and serves as a chapter representative; and 
 
  1-18  WHEREAS, in addition, he has been a member of the Savannah 
  1-19  Community Choir for the past 35 years, and his considerable 
  1-20  talent and love for music has made him a vital participant 
  1-21  in the many programs and performances enjoyed by Savannah 
  1-22  residents. 
 
  1-23  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-24  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and 
  1-25  commend Leroy Simmons on the momentous occasion of his 
  1-26  retirement from the Georgia Ports Authority and express to 
  1-27  him their heartiest best wishes for health and happiness. 
 
  1-28  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-29  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-30  appropriate copy of this resolution to Leroy Simmons.
