                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Designating a portion of state route 25 in the City of 
  1- 2  Brunswick as the "Paul Warwick, Jr., Memorial Highway"; and 
  1- 3  for other purposes. 
 
  1- 4  WHEREAS, the late Mr. Paul Warwick, Jr., was a longtime 
  1- 5  resident of Brunswick who devoted an enormous amount of his 
  1- 6  time and energy to productive community service as mayor of 
  1- 7  that city and as a businessman and civic leader; and 
 
  1- 8  WHEREAS, he served as mayor of Brunswick during the years 
  1- 9  1987 through 1990; and 
 
  1-10  WHEREAS, while serving as mayor, he convened the first 
  1-11  meeting of community leaders which began the process of 
  1-12  gaining state and federal support and assistance for the 
  1-13  much needed replacement of the Sidney Lanier Bridge, which 
  1-14  will greatly benefit not only the Brunswick area but the 
  1-15  entire state; and 
 
  1-16  WHEREAS, in addition to his service as an elected public 
  1-17  official, he also served terms as chairman of the Brunswick 
  1-18  Downtown Development Authority from 1985 through 1986 and 
  1-19  again from 1991 through 1997 and as president of the 
  1-20  Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce in 1974; and 
 
  1-21  WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that the memory of 
  1-22  this gentleman be honored by this state in the community 
  1-23  where he lived and served with honor and distinction. 
 
  1-24  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF 
  1-25  GEORGIA that the portion of state route 25 in the City of 
  1-26  Brunswick between the northern end of the Sidney Lanier 
  1-27  Bridge and the intersection of said route with the western 
  1-28  foot of the F.J. Torras Causeway is designated the "Paul 
  1-29  Warwick, Jr., Memorial Highway", and that the Department of 
  1-30  Transportation is authorized and directed to erect and 
  1-31  maintain appropriate signs so identifying the highway. 
 
  1-32  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-33  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit 
  1-34  appropriate copies of this resolution to the Department of 
  1-35  Transportation and the family of Mr. Paul Warwick, Jr.
