                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Paying tribute to the late Elmore Callaway Thrash and 
  1- 2  inviting his family to appear before the House of 
  1- 3  Representatives; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 4  WHEREAS, Elmore Callaway Thrash will long be remembered by 
  1- 5  his many friends who have served as members of the Georgia 
  1- 6  House of Representatives where this very distinguished 
  1- 7  gentleman served for 43 years as the Messenger of the House; 
  1- 8  and 
 
  1- 9  WHEREAS, he was born on November 11, 1914, and he began his 
  1-10  lifelong experience with the Georgia General Assembly in 
  1-11  1927 as the personal Page for Richard B. Russell while he 
  1-12  served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives; and 
 
  1-13  WHEREAS, he graduated from the University of Georgia in 
  1-14  1936, served as purchasing agent for the State of Georgia in 
  1-15  1942, and served in the Army as a captain during World War 
  1-16  II; and 
 
  1-17  WHEREAS, he was a special aide to Governor Herman Talmadge 
  1-18  and because of his remarkable knowledge of state government 
  1-19  and his extraordinary talent with people, he was an 
  1-20  invaluable aide to ten Speakers of the House and his public 
  1-21  service spanned the administrations of 15 Governors of 
  1-22  Georgia; and 
 
  1-23  WHEREAS, "Mr. Elmo" gave tirelessly of his time and energy 
  1-24  to the members and staff of this legislative body, and his 
  1-25  love for the Georgia House of Representatives was second 
  1-26  only to his love and dedication to his family; and 
 
  1-27  WHEREAS, his rare insight and understanding of the 
  1-28  governmental process earned him the respect and admiration 
  1-29  of freshmen and veteran lawmakers, and his genteel manner 
  1-30  and generous spirit endeared him to all who knew him. 
 
  1-31  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-32  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body pay tribute to 
  1-33  Elmore Callaway Thrash whose dedication, diligence, and 
  1-34  quiet determination contributed significantly to the proud 
  1-35  history of this legislative body.

  2- 1  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the family of the 
  2- 2  late Elmore Callaway Thrash are invited to appear before the 
  2- 3  House of Representatives at a date and time to be fixed by 
  2- 4  the Speaker of the House of Representatives. 
 
  2- 5  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  2- 6  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  2- 7  appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Elmore
