A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Proclaiming the second Thursday in February, as "African
1- 2 American Business Enterprise Day" and inviting the Georgia
1- 3 Summit of African-American Business Organizations to appear
1- 4 before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.
1- 5 WHEREAS, African American businesses have made significant
1- 6 contributions to the progress and growth of the State of
1- 7 Georgia; and
1- 8 WHEREAS, with ingenuity born of adversity and perseverance
1- 9 stemming from hardship, African American entrepreneurs have
1-10 created a vast and diverse array of business enterprises in
1-11 this state; and
1-12 WHEREAS, with successful enterprises ranging from small
1-13 businesses to major corporations, African American
1-14 entrepreneurs have uniquely influenced the business culture
1-15 of this state and have built an enduring legacy of success
1-16 for future generations; and
1-17 WHEREAS, success in the face of adversity has always been
1-18 worthy of recognition and celebration.
1-19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
1-20 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize the
1-21 outstanding service and contributions which African American
1-22 entrepreneurs have made to the State of Georgia and proclaim
1-23 the second Thursday of February, as "African American
1-24 Business Enterprise Day."
1-25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the Georgia
1-26 Summit of African-American Business Organizations are
1-27 invited to appear before the House of Representatives on
1-28 February 11, 1999, at a time to be determined by the Speaker
1-29 of the House of Representatives.
1-30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
1-31 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
1-32 appropriate copy of this resolution to W.S. (Bill) Cannon V,
1-33 executive director of the Georgia Summit of African-American
1-34 Business Organizations.
