                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Honoring the life of Ernest Dixon and expressing regret at 
  1- 2  his passing; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, Ernest Dixon of Austell, Georgia, was an actor and 
  1- 4  former banker who raced sports cars and ran his own company 
  1- 5  that provided housing assistance to low-income people; and 
 
  1- 6  WHEREAS, he was the founder of the Quicksilver Track Club, 
  1- 7  one of the most successful youth sports programs in the 
  1- 8  southeast; and 
 
  1- 9  WHEREAS, the Quicksilver Track Club is based at a $2 million 
  1-10  track with 12 volunteer coaches who work with 150 children; 
  1-11  and 
 
  1-12  WHEREAS, Mr. Dixon's program has produced many track and 
  1-13  field stars and is a training facility for several metro 
  1-14  Atlanta professional athletes; and 
 
  1-15  WHEREAS, Mr. Dixon was himself an athlete at Booker T. 
  1-16  Washington High School in the City of Atlanta and at Ohio 
  1-17  Wesleyan College where he received a degree in economics in 
  1-18  1963; and 
 
  1-19  WHEREAS, he started acting professionally in 1967 and had 
  1-20  roles in Spike Lee's "Drop Squad," "Paris Trout," and "The 
  1-21  Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All," among other 
  1-22  films; and 
 
  1-23  WHEREAS, he did commercials, voiceovers, and limited print 
  1-24  modeling for more than 30 years but was happiest in the 
  1-25  theater acting in the classics; and 
 
  1-26  WHEREAS, he was a loving father to his two daughters, 
  1-27  Shelley Holmes and Jessica R. Dixon. 
 
  1-28  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-29  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body honor the rich 
  1-30  and full life of Ernest Dixon, commend him for his 
  1-31  contributions to society, and express their sincere regret 
  1-32  at his passing. 
 
  1-33  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-34  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
