                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend Article 3 of Chapter 12 of Title 45, relating to 
  1- 2  appointments by the Governor, so as to change provisions 
  1- 3  relating to appointment of attorneys as executive counsel by 
  1- 4  the Governor; to change the number of counsel who may be so 
  1- 5  appointed; to provide for related matters; to provide an 
  1- 6  effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other 
  1- 7  purposes. 
 
  1- 8       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 9                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1-10  Article 3 of Chapter 12 of Title 45, relating to 
  1-11  appointments by the Governor, is amended by striking Code 
  1-12  Section 45-12-55, relating to appointment of attorneys as 
  1-13  executive counsel by the Governor, and inserting in its 
  1-14  place a new Code section to read as follows: 
 
  1-15    "45-12-55. 
 
  1-16    The Governor shall be authorized to appoint two attorneys 
  1-17    to serve as his or her executive counsel for such periods 
  1-18    of time as he or she deems advisable. The salaries, 
  1-19    expenses, and all other remunerations of the attorneys 
  1-20    appointed by the Governor as his or her executive counsel 
  1-21    shall be determined by the Governor and paid from funds 
  1-22    appropriated to or otherwise made available to the office 
  1-23    of the Governor." 
 
  1-24                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-25  This Act shall become effective upon its approval by the 
  1-26  Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval. 
 
  1-27                           SECTION 3. 
 
  1-28  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 
  1-29  repealed.
