                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To provide for the compensation of the Oconee County board 
  1- 2  of education; to provide an effective date; to repeal 
  1- 3  conflicting laws; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 4       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 5                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1- 6  The members of the Oconee County Board of Education shall be 
  1- 7  compensated as provided in this Act.  Each board member, 
  1- 8  including the chairperson, shall receive a salary of $150.00 
  1- 9  per month, payable in equal monthly installments.  All such 
  1-10  amounts shall be payable from local tax funds available to 
  1-11  the Oconee County School District.  The compensation for a 
  1-12  given month may be withheld for any member of the board of 
  1-13  education who fails to attend any official board meeting for 
  1-14  that month.  Compensation may be withheld only by majority 
  1-15  vote of the other board members in open meeting. 
 
  1-16                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-17  This Act shall become effective on July 1, 1999. 
 
  1-18                           SECTION 3. 
 
  1-19  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
