                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend Code Section 12-6-61 of the Official Code of 
  1- 2  Georgia Annotated, relating to prohibited acts relative to 
  1- 3  the conduct of  forestry practices, so as to provide that 
  1- 4  such Code section shall not prohibit a person from 
  1- 5  conducting forestry practices on land he or she owns in fee 
  1- 6  simple or as a life tenant or leases; to provide for 
  1- 7  additional persons who may practice forestry under 
  1- 8  supervision; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other 
  1- 9  purposes. 
 
  1-10       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1-11                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1-12  Code Section 12-6-61 of the Official Code of Georgia 
  1-13  Annotated, relating to prohibited acts relative to the 
  1-14  conduct of  forestry practices, is amended by striking in 
  1-15  its entirety subsection (c) and inserting in lieu thereof 
  1-16  the following: 
 
  1-17    "(c) Notwithstanding subsection (b) of this Code section 
  1-18    or any other provisions of this part, nothing in this part 
  1-19    shall be construed as preventing or prohibiting any person 
  1-20    from managing or otherwise conducting forestry practices 
  1-21    on land owned, leased, rented, or held in fee simple or as 
  1-22    a life tenant or leased by such person; nor shall anything 
  1-23    in this part prohibit any regular employee or official of 
  1-24    any person, corporation, partnership, agency, institution, 
  1-25    or other entity from engaging in professional or other 
  1-26    forestry practices on lands owned, leased, rented, or held 
  1-27    in fee simple or as a life tenant or leased by such 
  1-28    person, corporation, partnership, agency, institution, or 
  1-29    other entity; nor shall  anything in this part prohibit 
  1-30    any graduate of a school of forestry or any person who has 
  1-31    satisfactorily completed a course in forestry management 
  1-32    at a vocational-technical school from practicing forestry 
  1-33    under supervision as authorized in Code Section 12-6-49 so 
  1-34    as to qualify for licensing as provided in that Code 
  1-35    section."

  2- 2  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
