                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend Article 1 of Chapter 3 of Title 8 of the Official 
  1- 2  Code of Georgia Annotated, the "Housing Authorities Law," so 
  1- 3  as to prohibit eviction of certain tenants of property owned 
  1- 4  or operated by a housing authority in certain circumstances; 
  1- 5  to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 6       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 7                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1- 8  Article 1 of Chapter 3 of Title 8 of the Official Code of 
  1- 9  Georgia Annotated, the "Housing Authorities Law," is amended 
  1-10  by inserting a new Code section to be designated Code 
  1-11  Section 8-3-37 to read as follows: 
 
  1-12    "8-3-37. 
 
  1-13    No housing authority created pursuant to this article 
  1-14    shall be authorized to evict residents from tenancy in 
  1-15    property owned or operated by the housing authority 
  1-16    because one or more children of a parent or guardian are 
  1-17    in the custody of the Division of Family and Children 
  1-18    Services during the first six months of such custody by 
  1-19    the Division of Family and Children Services, unless the 
  1-20    juvenile court has determined that reunification of the 
  1-21    child or children with the family is not in the best 
  1-22    interests of the child or children in accordance with the 
  1-23    provisions of Code Section 15-11-41." 
 
  1-24                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-25  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 
  1-26  repealed.
