                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend Chapter 1 of Title 15 of the Official Code of 
  1- 2  Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions relating 
  1- 3  to courts, so as to provide that clerks of court shall not 
  1- 4  have the authority to provide forms listing possible 
  1- 5  defenses to claims made in civil actions; to provide an 
  1- 6  effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other 
  1- 7  purposes. 
 
  1- 8       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 9                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1-10  Chapter 1 of Title 15 of the Official Code of Georgia 
  1-11  Annotated, relating to general provisions relating to 
  1-12  courts, is amended by adding at the end thereof a new Code 
  1-13  Section 15-1-14 to read as follows: 
 
  1-14    "15-1-14. 
 
  1-15    No clerk of any court shall have authority to provide to a 
  1-16    party in a civil action against whom a claim is made any 
  1-17    form which that party may use to answer or otherwise 
  1-18    respond to the claim that contains a list or description 
  1-19    of possible defenses to the claim." 
 
  1-20                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-21  This Act shall become effective on July 1, 1999. 
 
  1-22                           SECTION 3. 
 
  1-23  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 
  1-24  repealed.
