                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend Part 2 of Article 2 of Chapter 3 of Title 20 of the 
  1- 2  Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to the 
  1- 3  University System of Georgia, so as to provide that high 
  1- 4  school grades of persons seeking admission to any public 
  1- 5  college or university in this state shall not be indexed 
  1- 6  except under certain conditions; to provide for related 
  1- 7  matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 8       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 9                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1-10  Part 2 of Article 2 of Chapter 3 of Title 20 of the Official 
  1-11  Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to the University System 
  1-12  of Georgia, is amended by adding at the end thereof a new 
  1-13  Code Section 20-3-85 to read as follows: 
 
  1-14    "20-3-85. 
 
  1-15    The high school grades of any person seeking admission to 
  1-16    any public college or university of this state shall not 
  1-17    be indexed or adjusted for the purpose of converting such 
  1-18    grades to any equivalent grading system unless the method 
  1-19    of indexing or adjustment operates such that the relative 
  1-20    ranking of students by grades prior to and subsequent to 
  1-21    such indexing or adjustment shall be unchanged." 
 
  1-22                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-23  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
