                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend Code Section 7-4-12 of the Official Code of Georgia 
  1- 2  Annotated, relating to interest on judgments, so as to 
  1- 3  provide that the amount of judgment upon which interest may 
  1- 4  be charged shall include attorneys' fees awarded and court 
  1- 5  costs assessed; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other 
  1- 6  purposes. 
 
  1- 7       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 8                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1- 9  Code Section 7-4-12 of the Official Code of Georgia 
  1-10  Annotated, relating to interest on judgments, is amended by 
  1-11  striking said Code section in its entirety and inserting in 
  1-12  lieu thereof the following: 
 
  1-13    "7-4-12. 
 
  1-14    All judgments in this state shall bear interest upon the 
  1-15    principal amount recovered, including any attorneys' fees 
  1-16    and court costs awarded, at the rate of 12 percent per 
  1-17    year unless the judgment is rendered on a written contract 
  1-18    or obligation providing for interest at a specified rate, 
  1-19    in which case the judgment shall bear interest at the rate 
  1-20    specified in such contract or obligation.  The 
  1-21    postjudgment interest provided for in this Code section 
  1-22    shall apply automatically to all judgments in this state 
  1-23    and such interest shall be collectable as a part of each 
  1-24    such judgment whether or not such judgment specifically 
  1-25    reflects the entitlement to such interest." 
 
  1-26                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-27  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
