                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Designating the three-way intersection of State Highway 53, 
  1- 2  Burnt Mountain Road, and Spring Street in Pickens County as 
  1- 3  the "James T. Williams Intersection"; and for other 
  1- 4  purposes. 
 
  1- 5  WHEREAS, James T. Williams was a widely respected and 
  1- 6  well-loved member of the community of Jasper, Georgia; and 
 
  1- 7  WHEREAS, throughout his life, James T. Williams pursued 
  1- 8  three successful careers -- as a dedicated member of the 
  1- 9  United States Marine Corps, as an effective manager for 
  1-10  Atlanta Gas Light Company, and as director of special 
  1-11  projects for the City of Jasper; and 
 
  1-12  WHEREAS, James T. Williams was also a leader in Jasper's 
  1-13  civic affairs, serving as a member of the Pickens County 
  1-14  Board of Education, a member of the boards of the Pickens 
  1-15  Technical Institute and of the Pickens Tech Foundation, as a 
  1-16  charter member and founding director of the Pickens County 
  1-17  Chamber of Commerce, and as a steward in the local United 
  1-18  Methodist Church; and 
 
  1-19  WHEREAS, James T. Williams was a devoted husband to his wife 
  1-20  Christine and a loving father to their two sons, Mark and 
  1-21  Brian; and 
 
  1-22  WHEREAS, James T. Williams was well loved in Jasper by his 
  1-23  many friends, who respected and appreciated his devotion to 
  1-24  living a life of  integrity, honesty, and perseverence. 
 
  1-25  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF 
  1-26  GEORGIA that the members of this body honor the memory of 
  1-27  James T. Williams and designate the three-way intersection 
  1-28  of State Highway 53, Burnt Mountain Road, and Spring Street 
  1-29  in Pickens County as the "James T. Williams Intersection". 
 
  1-30  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation 
  1-31  is authorized and directed to erect and maintain appropriate 
  1-32  signs so designating the intersection. 
 
  1-33  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-34  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit
