                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Recognizing and expressing appreciation to Steven L. Parks; 
  1- 2  and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, Steven L. Parks, a 31 year career employee with the 
  1- 4  Georgia Department of Transportation, has worked in 
  1- 5  cooperation with the Georgia General Assembly since 1992; 
  1- 6  and 
 
  1- 7  WHEREAS, he has expeditiously handled all individual 
  1- 8  requests from the General Assembly with a great degree of 
  1- 9  professionalism, showing a high degree of persistence to 
  1-10  seek out solutions to difficult problems and to ensure that 
  1-11  all requests from state legislators were fulfilled 
  1-12  accurately and promptly; and 
 
  1-13  WHEREAS, because of his in-depth knowledge of the Georgia 
  1-14  DOT, he was always able to respond with thoroughness to 
  1-15  detailed questions of legislators and to keep the State 
  1-16  Transportation Board, the Commissioner of Transportation, 
  1-17  and the Georgia DOT staff fully informed as well; and 
 
  1-18  WHEREAS, he worked his way up through the ranks of the 
  1-19  Georgia DOT from Construction Inspector in Gainesville to 
  1-20  District Maintenance Engineer in Thomaston and later in 
  1-21  Cartersville, and due to his continued tireless efforts and 
  1-22  strong work ethic, he was promoted to State Equipment 
  1-23  Maintenance Administrator, then State Maintenance Engineer, 
  1-24  and later Director of Operations; and 
 
  1-25  WHEREAS, because of his commitment to the Georgia DOT and 
  1-26  the State of Georgia, he now serves as Deputy Commissioner 
  1-27  of the Georgia DOT; and 
 
  1-28  WHEREAS, he has always demonstrated the highest level of 
  1-29  integrity as a liaison between the Georgia DOT and the 
  1-30  General Assembly; and 
 
  1-31  WHEREAS, given his many contributions to the work of the 
  1-32  Georgia General Assembly and the desire of this body to find 
  1-33  a concrete expression for its gratitude, it is only fitting 
  1-34  and proper that Steven L. Parks be recognized for his 
  1-35  ability to demonstrate good judgment and dedicated service

  2- 1  in serving the members of the General Assembly and the 
  2- 2  citizens of our great state. 
 
  2- 3  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF 
  2- 4  GEORGIA that this body hereby salutes Steven L. Parks for 
  2- 5  his admirable devotion to the Georgia Department of 
  2- 6  Transportation and the Georgia General Assembly and for the 
  2- 7  tremendous professional approach he has displayed throughout 
  2- 8  his career. 
 
  2- 9  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Interstate 85 at State Route 51, 
  2-10  Exit 160 in Franklin County, be designated the Steven L. 
  2-11  Parks Interchange. 
 
  2-12  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  2-13  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  2-14  appropriate copy of this resolution to Steven L. Parks and
