                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  In memory of the life and death of Mr. Amadou Diallo; and 
  1- 2  for other purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, Mr. Amadou Diallo was shot and killed by officers 
  1- 4  of the New York City Police Department and the circumstances 
  1- 5  of and responsibility for this shooting have become a topic 
  1- 6  of public controversy; but 
 
  1- 7  WHEREAS, it is undisputed that Mr. Diallo was an honest, 
  1- 8  hard working, and law abiding gentleman who had immigrated 
  1- 9  to this country from West Africa in search of a better life 
  1-10  and the personal liberties for which our nation is known; 
  1-11  and 
 
  1-12  WHEREAS, it is appropriate that this body recognize the 
  1-13  tragic nature of the events which led to Mr. Diallo's death 
  1-14  and express its concern and sympathy for Mr. Diallo and his 
  1-15  family. 
 
  1-16  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-17  REPRESENTATIVES that this body hereby honors Mr. Amadou 
  1-18  Diallo and his memory and expresses to his family and
