                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Recognizing and commending Benny Whitmore; and for other 
  1- 2  purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, Benny Whitmore was born in Cleburne County, 
  1- 4  Alabama, attended public schools in Alabama, and graduated 
  1- 5  from Woodland High School in 1963; and 
 
  1- 6  WHEREAS, he joined Atlanta Gas Light Company on June 8, 
  1- 7  1964, was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1966, and returned 
  1- 8  to Atlanta Gas Light Company upon completion of his military 
  1- 9  service in 1968; and 
 
  1-10  WHEREAS, while working full time for the company, he 
  1-11  received an associate's degree in 1972 from Clayton Junior 
  1-12  College, a bachelor's degree in 1974 from Georgia State 
  1-13  University, and a law degree in 1980 from Atlanta Law 
  1-14  School; and 
 
  1-15  WHEREAS, he was admitted to membership in the State Bar of 
  1-16  Georgia in 1980; and 
 
  1-17  WHEREAS, he has received numerous promotions and honors 
  1-18  while working with Atlanta Gas Light Company and, while 
  1-19  serving as director of residential markets, he was 
  1-20  instrumental in the development of the Energy Wise Home 
  1-21  Program; and 
 
  1-22  WHEREAS, he is an active member of the Clayton Rotary Club, 
  1-23  the Partner-In-Education Council, the A+ for Excellence in 
  1-24  Public Education Foundation, the At Risk Student Mentor 
  1-25  Program, the United Way, and the chambers of commerce in 
  1-26  Fayette, Henry, and Clayton counties; and 
 
  1-27  WHEREAS, he serves with great dedication and ability as 
  1-28  chairperson of the Clayton County Hospital Authority and 
  1-29  Southern Regional Health Systems; and 
 
  1-30  WHEREAS, he is the devoted husband of Dinah Baker Whitmore 
  1-31  and is the father of two outstanding sons, James Brian 
  1-32  Whitmore and Isaac Ray Whitmore. 
 
  1-33  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-34  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and 
  1-35  commend Benny Whitmore for his many years of outstanding

  2- 1  service to the natural gas industry, to his community, and 
  2- 2  to the State of Georgia. 
 
  2- 3  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  2- 4  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
