A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Recognizing the achievements of Thomas Henry Resseau; and
1- 2 for other purposes.
1- 3 WHEREAS, Thomas Henry Resseau's family settled in Putnam
1- 4 County in the early 1800's, and he grew up on a
1- 5 self-sufficient farm near Kinderhook Community off Highway
1- 6 129; and
1- 7 WHEREAS, he answered his country's call to defend freedom,
1- 8 serving valiantly in the 121st Regiment of the 8th Infantry
1- 9 Division during World War II, fighting in Normandy, Central
1-10 Europe, and Rhineland; and
1-11 WHEREAS, for his steadfast courage, he was awarded the
1-12 Purple Heart, a Combat Infantry Badge, a Good Conduct Medal,
1-13 and the American Defense Service Medal; and
1-14 WHEREAS, he returned to Putnam County to operate two
1-15 dairies, providing outstanding leadership in helping
1-16 establish the Eatonton Cooperative Creamery and the
1-17 cooperative feed house, which had lasting impact on the
1-18 local dairy business, allowing county dairymen to save on
1-19 feed and supplies; and
1-20 WHEREAS, he served on the Board of Directors of Georgia Milk
1-21 Producers, Inc., and the Agricultural Commodity Commission
1-22 for Milk with unlimited energy and enthusiasm, loyalty of
1-23 the highest order, and rare dependability; and
1-24 WHEREAS, in 1995, the University of Georgia's College of
1-25 Agricultural and Environmental Sciences named a scholarship
1-26 in his honor and as thanks for his leadership as the first
1-27 president of the Georgia Dairy Memorial and Scholarship
1-28 Foundation, Inc.; and
1-29 WHEREAS, his volunteer work with the Selective Service
1-30 System of Georgia earned certificates of appreciation signed
1-31 by five United States Presidents; and
1-32 WHEREAS, of his many achievements, he surely considered his
1-33 three cherished grandchildren, Steve, Anne Marie, and
1-34 Rebecca Sinclair, as among the most important; and

2- 1 WHEREAS, a progressive thinker, gifted businessman, generous
2- 2 friend, and a man who was always devoted to improving his
2- 3 community for the future, he will be sorely missed.
2- 4 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
2- 5 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize the
2- 6 many achievements and contributions of Thomas Henry Resseau.
2- 7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
2- 8 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
2- 9 appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Thomas
2-10 Henry Resseau.
