                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Recognizing and commending the Tri Rivers Waterway 
  1- 2  Development Association; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, Tri Rivers Waterway Development Association, a 
  1- 4  nonprofit tri-state organization, was incorporated in 1960 
  1- 5  to encourage the development, operation, and maintenance of 
  1- 6  the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint Inland Waterway and 
  1- 7  River System; and 
 
  1- 8  WHEREAS, this outstanding nonprofit association includes 
  1- 9  individuals, organizations, governments, and businesses 
  1-10  working together to help protect and develop this vital 
  1-11  river system in the 19,800 square mile river basin in 
  1-12  Georgia, Alabama, and Florida; and 
 
  1-13  WHEREAS, the Tri Rivers Waterway Development Association is 
  1-14  focused on the multiple needs and uses of the waterway and 
  1-15  basin resources and pursues a balanced approach to the use 
  1-16  of water resources within the basin; and 
 
  1-17  WHEREAS, the association serves as an effective link with 
  1-18  public and private interests by providing a regionally 
  1-19  sensitive forum for addressing issues of concern and 
  1-20  interest; and 
 
  1-21  WHEREAS, commercial navigation, an adequate supply of 
  1-22  drinking water for the region, recreational opportunities 
  1-23  for the citizens of Georgia, Alabama, and Florida, and 
  1-24  economic development based on wise use of this outstanding 
  1-25  resource are of critical importance. 
 
  1-26  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-27  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize the 
  1-28  Tri Rivers Waterway Development Association on the occasion 
  1-29  of its fortieth anniversary and commend the association and 
  1-30  its members for their outstanding efforts on behalf of the 
  1-31  citizens of Georgia. 
 
  1-32  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-33  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-34  appropriate copy of this resolution to the Tri Rivers 
  1-35  Waterway Development Association.
