A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Commending Willie Rogers Hornsby; and for other purposes.
1- 2 WHEREAS, Willie Rogers Hornsby is well known throughout the
1- 3 State of Georgia as a prominent businessman and civil
1- 4 libertarian who founded the first black owned bail bonding
1- 5 company in Atlanta, Georgia; and
1- 6 WHEREAS, Rogers Hornsby has been in the bonding business for
1- 7 45 years, and he is recognized as the individual chiefly
1- 8 responsible for the development of Georgia's bonding law as
1- 9 it exists today; and
1-10 WHEREAS, he is a lifetime member of the Georgia Association
1-11 of Professional Bondsmen and is known by most bail bonding
1-12 companies throughout the state, and he has been an active
1-13 member of a national association of professional bondsmen;
1-14 and
1-15 WHEREAS, his leadership and commitment to civil rights
1-16 issues and the protection of individuals from injustice has
1-17 strengthened the judicial process in Georgia; and
1-18 WHEREAS, his contributions to his professional organizations
1-19 at the local, state, and national levels have brought credit
1-20 and honor to his community and state, and it is most
1-21 appropriate that the accomplishments of this gentleman be
1-22 recognized and honored.
1-23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
1-24 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Willie
1-25 Rogers Hornsby for his dedication and service as a
1-26 professional bondsman and convey to him their respect and
1-27 appreciation.
1-28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
1-29 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
1-30 appropriate copy of this resolution to Willie Rogers
1-31 Hornsby.
