A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Honoring Mrs. Genny Wallace; and for other purposes.
1- 2 WHEREAS, for 12 years, Mrs. Genny Wallace served Henry
1- 3 County with distinction as a valuable and respected member
1- 4 of the Henry County Board of Education; and
1- 5 WHEREAS, before being elected to represent District 5 on the
1- 6 school board in 1986, Mrs. Wallace had spent years involved
1- 7 in parent-teacher organizations in both Henry County and
1- 8 DeKalb County; and
1- 9 WHEREAS, as a member of the school board, her actions
1-10 consistently reflected her sincere devotion to ensuring
1-11 quality education for all of the children of Henry County;
1-12 and
1-13 WHEREAS, during her 12-year tenure on the school board,
1-14 Henry County opened 11 new school buildings and was
1-15 recognized as the fastest growing school system in Georgia;
1-16 and
1-17 WHEREAS, while helping to steer the Henry County School
1-18 system through this period of unprecedented growth that has
1-19 increased the number of students from 9,000 in 1986 to more
1-20 than 20,000 today, Mrs. Wallace has focused on improving
1-21 curriculum, staff, and organizations; and
1-22 WHEREAS, she was instrumental in facilitating a 1997 meeting
1-23 of school system leaders in Henry County that led to the
1-24 establishment of landmark educational goals in the areas of
1-25 improving student achievement, communication, use of
1-26 instructional technology, recruitment and retention of
1-27 quality staff, student attendance, and student conduct; and
1-28 WHEREAS, with the help of her valuable leadership, the
1-29 Governor's Commission on Drug Awareness and Prevention named
1-30 the Henry County School System, the winner of the Governor's
1-31 Red Ribbon Campaign for three consecutive years; and
1-32 WHEREAS, Mrs. Wallace is the beloved wife of Ed F. Wallace,
1-33 and is the proud and loving mother of three children and
1-34 grandmother of six.

2- 1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
2- 2 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body honor Mrs.
2- 3 Genny Wallace for 12 years of distinguished service to Henry
2- 4 County and the Henry County Board of Education and for her
2- 5 continuing commitment to quality education in the State of
2- 6 Georgia.
2- 7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
2- 8 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
2- 9 appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Genny Wallace.
