A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Commending the Parkview High School Panthers girls' soccer
1- 2 team; and for other purposes.
1- 3 WHEREAS, the Parkview High School Panthers girls' soccer
1- 4 team has established and maintained a proud tradition of
1- 5 excellence in girls' soccer with equal emphasis on character
1- 6 and academics; and
1- 7 WHEREAS, this superlative team has completed another
1- 8 ultrasuccessful season of soccer competition by posting an
1- 9 outstanding record of 16 wins, one loss, and one tie; and
1-10 WHEREAS, the Panthers prowled through the state playoffs
1-11 posting dramatic overtime wins over their opponents but came
1-12 up short in the finale to their remarkable 1998 campaign as
1-13 the team lost the Class AAAA State Girls' Soccer
1-14 Championship in an exciting but heartbreaking 1-0 contest
1-15 against the Brookwood Broncos; and
1-16 WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team as it tried
1-17 for its second consecutive state title is a clear
1-18 indication of the outstanding athletic ability, the
1-19 dedication and hard work, the unity of purpose and spirit of
1-20 each member of the team, the team's superb offensive and
1-21 defensive talents, and the astute direction of Head Coach
1-22 Todd Yelton; and
1-23 WHEREAS, this magnificent team performed with precision
1-24 during the season and earned its well-deserved reputation
1-25 for high standards of athletic achievement, the quality of
1-26 its play, and the stiff competition which it presented its
1-27 opponents.
1-28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
1-29 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the
1-30 Parkview High School Panthers girls' soccer team for its
1-31 unparalleled achievements and extend their sincerest best
1-32 wishes for continued success in the future.
1-33 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
1-34 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
1-35 appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach Todd
1-36 Yelton.
