                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  In memory of Deputy John W. Stubbs; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 2  WHEREAS, the citizens of Dublin, Georgia, and of Laurens 
  1- 3  County have been served by outstanding law enforcement 
  1- 4  officers who have contributed substantially to the peace and 
  1- 5  safety of the community and to the welfare of its citizens; 
  1- 6  and 
 
  1- 7  WHEREAS, these dedicated professionals intervene in times of 
  1- 8  extreme crisis and subordinate their personal safety in an 
  1- 9  effort to save the lives of fellow citizens, protect their 
  1-10  property, and enforce the law; and 
 
  1-11  WHEREAS, the State of Georgia and its local communities 
  1-12  benefit from the professionalism, courage, and commitment of 
  1-13  these trusted public safety officers; and 
 
  1-14  WHEREAS, those law enforcement officers who lost their lives 
  1-15  in the line of duty deserve proper recognition and 
  1-16  remembrance for their supreme sacrifice; and 
 
  1-17  WHEREAS, the citizens of Dublin and Laurens County have 
  1-18  established a monument to honor those public safety officers 
  1-19  who gave their lives in the course of their duty; and 
 
  1-20  WHEREAS, Deputy John W. Stubbs of the Laurens County 
  1-21  Sheriff's Department was killed in a traffic accident on 
  1-22  Highway 441 North on May 20, 1952, while responding to a 
  1-23  domestic call, and it is most appropriate that his name and 
  1-24  his distinguished public service be commemorated. 
 
  1-25  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-26  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and 
  1-27  pay tribute to Deputy John W. Stubbs and convey to his 
  1-28  family their deep respect for his public service. 
 
  1-29  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-30  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-31  appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Deputy 
  1-32  John W. Stubbs.
