A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Commending the City of Woodstock Police Department; and for
1- 2 other purposes.
1- 3 WHEREAS, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement
1- 4 Agencies (CALEA) awarded accredited status to an elite group
1- 5 of Georgia's finest law enforcement agencies; and
1- 6 WHEREAS, these law enforcement agencies belong to an elite
1- 7 group of over 500 law enforcement agencies in the United
1- 8 States, Canada, and Barbados that have received this
1- 9 prestigious international recognition; and
1-10 WHEREAS, such agencies have taken extraordinary steps to
1-11 demonstrate their professionalism and pride in delivering
1-12 quality law enforcement service to their state and
1-13 communities; and
1-14 WHEREAS, agencies seeking accreditation must enter the
1-15 program voluntarily and must meet or exceed standards of
1-16 administration, operation, and technical support activities;
1-17 and
1-18 WHEREAS, the chief and officers of the City of Woodstock
1-19 Police Department have received this elite accreditation;
1-20 and
1-21 WHEREAS, the City of Woodstock Police Department has 25
1-22 sworn personnel and seven civilian personnel and the
1-23 department serves a population of approximately 12,000
1-24 people; and
1-25 WHEREAS, the City Woodstock Police Department is widely
1-26 known and highly respected for its effective law enforcement
1-27 programs; and
1-28 WHEREAS, Chief David Lyons of the City of Woodstock Police
1-29 Department should be recognized for his outstanding
1-30 leadership and for the quality of service provided by his
1-31 agency.
1-32 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
1-33 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend and
1-34 congratulate the City of Woodstock Police Department for
1-35 achieving the prestigious accredited status by the

2- 1 Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies
2- 2 (CALEA).
2- 3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
2- 4 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
2- 5 appropriate copy of this resolution to Chief David Lyons,
2- 6 City of Woodstock Police Department.
