                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Recognizing and commending the Georgia Farm Bureau 
  1- 2  Federation and inviting its president to appear before the 
  1- 3  House of Representatives; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 4  WHEREAS, the Georgia Farm Bureau Federation was formed in 
  1- 5  1937 as a voice for production agriculture in legislative 
  1- 6  affairs; and 
 
  1- 7  WHEREAS, from its humble beginnings in Northwest Georgia, 
  1- 8  the Georgia Farm Bureau Federation has grown to 159 county 
  1- 9  chapters, led by volunteer farmer members, and the 
  1-10  membership has steadily risen to its present level of 
  1-11  315,522 family members; and 
 
  1-12  WHEREAS, this outstanding federation of Georgia farmers has 
  1-13  become a diversified organization which focuses on service 
  1-14  to its members and the improvement of Georgia agriculture; 
  1-15  and 
 
  1-16  WHEREAS, the Georgia Farm Bureau Federation now operates 
  1-17  nine companies which provide service to its members in areas 
  1-18  ranging from insurance to real estate services to farm 
  1-19  record management services; and 
 
  1-20  WHEREAS, the Committee on Agriculture and Consumer Affairs 
  1-21  of the House of Representatives has long recognized the 
  1-22  Georgia Farm Bureau Federation, under the dedicated 
  1-23  leadership of its president, Mr. Wayne Dollar of Thomas 
  1-24  County, as an exemplary voice of Georgia agriculture; and 
 
  1-25  WHEREAS, the General Assembly will observe Tuesday, January 
  1-26  26, 1999, as Georgia Farm Bureau Day at the Capitol. 
 
  1-27  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-28  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and 
  1-29  commend the Georgia Farm Bureau Federation and its members 
  1-30  for their many years of dedicated service to Georgia 
  1-31  agriculture and their exceptional assistance to the members 
  1-32  of the House of Representatives. 
 
  1-33  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Mr. Wayne Dollar, president of 
  1-34  the Georgia Farm Bureau Federation, is invited to appear 
  1-35  before the House of Representatives on Tuesday, January 26,

  2- 1  1999, at a time to be determined by the Speaker of the House 
  2- 2  of Representatives. 
 
  2- 3  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  2- 4  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  2- 5  appropriate copy of this resolution to the Georgia Farm
