                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending Shelby Craig "Corky" Jones; and for other 
  1- 2  purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, Shelby Craig "Corky" Jones is widely recognized 
  1- 4  throughout the state as the personification of excellence in 
  1- 5  education; and 
 
  1- 6  WHEREAS, this highly respected professional educator has 
  1- 7  served with honor and distinction as a teacher, assistant 
  1- 8  principal, principal, and finally superintendent of the 
  1- 9  Cherokee County school system; and 
 
  1-10  WHEREAS, he believes that his role as a teacher and 
  1-11  continuing role as an administrator is to act as an 
  1-12  instrument of inspiration and enthusiasm to his pupils and 
  1-13  to create a positive learning environment through the 
  1-14  encouragement of competitive instincts in his students; and 
 
  1-15  WHEREAS, during his tenure as superintendent, he has 
  1-16  overseen the dramatic growth of the Cherokee County school 
  1-17  system and has maintained a steadfast commitment to 
  1-18  excellence in both the students and the teachers in Cherokee 
  1-19  County; and 
 
  1-20  WHEREAS, he is a shining example of the important impact 
  1-21  that the efforts of individual classroom teachers and 
  1-22  education professionals are making on the quality of 
  1-23  education received by the children of this state and it is 
  1-24  abundantly fitting and proper that his superlative 
  1-25  accomplishments be recognized appropriately. 
 
  1-26  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-27  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body heartily and 
  1-28  gratefully commend Shelby Craig "Corky" Jones for his many 
  1-29  years of sacrifice, foresight, accomplishment, and 
  1-30  contributions on behalf of education in Georgia and for the 
  1-31  positive influence he has had upon the lives and futures of 
  1-32  countless young people in this state. 
 
  1-33  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-34  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-35  appropriate copy of this resolution to Shelby Craig "Corky" 
  1-36  Jones.
