                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Expressing regret at the passing of Duvall D. Brimer; and 
  1- 2  for other purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, Duvall D. Brimer will long be remembered by his 
  1- 4  many colleagues and friends who valued the vision and 
  1- 5  ability of this very prominent businessman known for his 
  1- 6  community leadership and genteel manner; and 
 
  1- 7  WHEREAS, his long career with the Atlanta Coca-Cola Bottling 
  1- 8  Company began as a route salesman in 1940 and culminated in 
  1- 9  his appointment as Vice President and Director of Consumer 
  1-10  and Public Affairs where he served as the top lobbyist and 
  1-11  governmental spokesperson; and 
 
  1-12  WHEREAS, his gregarious nature, solid understanding of 
  1-13  company operations, and keen social skills with individuals 
  1-14  of diverse interests and backgrounds resulted in the 
  1-15  development of strong personal relationships with key 
  1-16  political and business leaders and a reputation for 
  1-17  effectiveness and integrity; and 
 
  1-18  WHEREAS, he retired in 1987, but was called back into 
  1-19  company service as a consultant in 1989, in recognition of 
  1-20  his considerable knowledge and knack for managing sensitive 
  1-21  issues and achieving results; and 
 
  1-22  WHEREAS, his professional skills in this competitive 
  1-23  industry were well-known and highly regarded, and he served 
  1-24  on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Soft Drink 
  1-25  Association for ten years and as President of the Georgia 
  1-26  Soft Drink Association for two years; and 
 
  1-27  WHEREAS, in addition to his distinguished public service, he 
  1-28  was a charter member and Deacon of Green Acres Baptist 
  1-29  Church in Smyrna, Georgia, and he was a cherished and 
  1-30  compassionate gentleman to all who had the good fortune to 
  1-31  know him. 
 
  1-32  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-33  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body express their 
  1-34  regret at the passing of Duvall D. Brimer and convey their 
  1-35  heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family.

  2- 1  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  2- 2  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  2- 3  appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Duvall
