                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Recognizing the Slosheye Trail Big Pig Jig as the state's 
  1- 2  Official Barbecue Cooking Contest; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, this year the Dooly County Chamber of Commerce is 
  1- 4  sponsoring the eighteenth Slosheye Trail Big Pig Jig in 
  1- 5  Vienna, Georgia; and 
 
  1- 6  WHEREAS, while normally this unparalleled "Cadillac of 
  1- 7  Barbecue Contests" attracts teams from across the 
  1- 8  southeastern United States who match their culinary 
  1- 9  craftsmanship and highly refined skills in the consummate 
  1-10  art of pig cookery and the creation of one of the most 
  1-11  exquisite, treasured, and relished foods in Georgia; and 
 
  1-12  WHEREAS, this event, which has grown in magnitude each year 
  1-13  since its inception, and has become one of the Southeast's 
  1-14  most widely anticipated and popular annual festivals, even 
  1-15  reaching to Texas where many uninformed persons still 
  1-16  mistakenly refer to burnt beef as "barbecue"; and 
 
  1-17  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-18  REPRESENTATIVES that this body recognizes the Slosheye Trail 
  1-19  Big Pig Jig as the state's Official Barbecue Cooking Contest 
  1-20  and commends the organizers for going whole hog in 
  1-21  broadening the scope of the event. 
 
  1-22  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-23  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-24  appropriate copy of this resolution to the Dooly County
