                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Congratulating the Marietta High School Boys Basketball 
  1- 2  Team; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, on Saturday, March 6, 1999, the Marietta High 
  1- 4  School Boys Basketball Team capped off an outstanding season 
  1- 5  with an 88-75 overtime victory over the Valdosta Wildcats to 
  1- 6  win the Boys Class AAAA State High School Basketball 
  1- 7  Championship; and 
 
  1- 8  WHEREAS, the emotional victory was an appropriate finale for 
  1- 9  a group of talented young men who played with heart all 
  1-10  season long; and 
 
  1-11  WHEREAS, the 30-2 record amassed by the team during the 
  1-12  season and the team's performance in the state championships 
  1-13  are clear indications of the exceptional athletic ability, 
  1-14  teamwork, dedication, hard work, and spirit of each member 
  1-15  of the Blue Devils team; and 
 
  1-16  WHEREAS, the team has been cheered on by the admiring 
  1-17  students, faculty, and parents of Marietta High School; and 
 
  1-18  WHEREAS, during his 26 years as varsity coach, Coach Charlie 
  1-19  Hood  has taken the team to 13 state tournaments, won eight 
  1-20  region championships, made the state final four on five 
  1-21  occasions and the state finals three times, appeared in 18 
  1-22  Christmas tournament finals, 12 of which he won, seen the 
  1-23  team named in the top ten in the state 12 times, and won two 
  1-24  state championships; and 
 
  1-25  WHEREAS, on December 31, 1998, the amazing athletes of the 
  1-26  Marietta boys basketball team won the Campbell-Osborne 
  1-27  Holiday Classic with a 63 - 53 victory, marking Coach 
  1-28  Charlie Hood's 500th career win, a record which he has now 
  1-29  surpassed with 520 victories; and 
 
  1-30  WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that the members of 
  1-31  the Marietta High School Boys Basketball Team be recognized 
  1-32  as the champions that they are. 
 
  1-33  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-34  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate

  2- 1  the Marietta High School Boys Basketball Team on winning the 
  2- 2  Boys Class AAAA State High School Basketball Championship. 
 
  2- 3  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  2- 4  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit 
  2- 5  appropriate copies of this resolution to Marietta High
