                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending the Asian American Hotel Owners Association; and 
  1- 2  for other purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, the Asian American Hotel Owners Association will be 
  1- 4  celebrating its tenth year when it holds its annual 
  1- 5  convention and trade show on March 17 through 19, 1999, at 
  1- 6  the Georgia World Congress Center; and 
 
  1- 7  WHEREAS, there will be over 350 vendor trade show booths as 
  1- 8  well as nine different educational and motivational classes 
  1- 9  during the convention; and 
 
  1-10  WHEREAS, the association is the fastest growing organization 
  1-11  in the United States hospitality industry with almost 5,000 
  1-12  members; and 
 
  1-13  WHEREAS, association members own more than 15,000 hotels 
  1-14  containing one million rooms and representing more than 
  1-15  one-half of economy lodging properties in the United States; 
  1-16  and 
 
  1-17  WHEREAS, association members employ almost 800,000 people 
  1-18  and pay $625 million in real estate taxes annually. 
 
  1-19  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-20  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the 
  1-21  Asian American Hotel Owners Association for their important 
  1-22  role in communicating, interacting, and securing their 
  1-23  proper position in the hospitality industry, and serving as 
  1-24  a source of inspiration by promoting professionalism and 
  1-25  excellence through education and community involvement. 
 
  1-26  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-27  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-28  appropriate copy of this resolution to the chairman of the 
  1-29  Asian American Hotel Owners Association.
