                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Congratulating Daniel E. "Dan" Reeves and inviting him to 
  1- 2  appear before the House of Representatives; and for other 
  1- 3  purposes. 
 
  1- 4  WHEREAS, the Atlanta Falcons' long-suffering fans suffer no 
  1- 5  more,  the "dirty bird" can be seen being performed by East 
  1- 6  Cobb yankees and South Fulton homeboys alike, and Falcons 
  1- 7  tickets are going at a premium, all thanks to Daniel E. 
  1- 8  "Dan" Reeves, Head Coach and Executive Vice-President of 
  1- 9  Football Operations of the Atlanta Falcons; and 
 
  1-10  WHEREAS,  Dan Reeves was born in Rome, Georgia on January 
  1-11  19, 1944, and graduated from Americus High School before 
  1-12  going on to star as quarterback for the University of South 
  1-13  Carolina from 1962-1964; and 
 
  1-14  WHEREAS, Dan was inducted into USC's hall of fame and played 
  1-15  in the National Football League with the Dallas Cowboys from 
  1-16  1965 to 1972 before beginning his illustrious coaching 
  1-17  career, first with the Cowboys and then as head coach for 
  1-18  the Denver Broncos from 1981 to 1992 and for the New York 
  1-19  Giants from 1993 to 1996, and he was named National Football 
  1-20  League Coach of the Year in 1984 and 1993 and has been named 
  1-21  American Football Conference Coach of the year four times, 
  1-22  including 1998 as the Falcons' head coach; and 
 
  1-23  WHEREAS, through his excellence in coaching, Dan has became 
  1-24  the 7th winningest coach in NFL history, a record he 
  1-25  continues to improve upon in Atlanta with the support of the 
  1-26  fans, the players, and team management; and 
 
  1-27  WHEREAS, his stated plans to return the Falcons to more 
  1-28  traditional offense and to shore up the defense and his "old 
  1-29  school" attitude regarding hard work, discipline, and 
  1-30  maintaining a good attitude have paid off and have set the 
  1-31  Falcons on the path to greatness that the Braves took in the 
  1-32  early 1990s; and 
 
  1-33  WHEREAS, Georgians are delighted to welcome back one of the 
  1-34  state's most successful progeny, and we are all fortunate to 
  1-35  have him coach the Falcons to greatness.

  2- 1  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  2- 2  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate 
  2- 3  Dan Reeves on becoming Head Coach and Executive 
  2- 4  Vice-President of Football Operations and extend their 
  2- 5  warmest welcome on his return to Georgia and wish him well 
  2- 6  in the upcoming football seasons. 
 
  2- 7  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Dan Reeves is invited to appear 
  2- 8  before this body on a date and at a time designated by the 
  2- 9  Speaker of the House of Representatives. 
 
  2-10  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  2-11  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
