                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending Rev. Gregory Vaughn Eason, Sr.; and for other 
  1- 2  purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, Rev. Gregory Vaughn Eason, Sr., is the Senior 
  1- 4  Pastor of Saint Philip African Methodist Episcopal Church in 
  1- 5  Savannah, Georgia, where he has served since June, 1990; and 
 
  1- 6  WHEREAS, he is a graduate of Morris Brown College, earned a 
  1- 7  masters in divinity from The Interdenominational Theological 
  1- 8  Center in Atlanta, and received a masters in theology from 
  1- 9  Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, in 1988; 
  1-10  and 
 
  1-11  WHEREAS, prior to coming to Savannah, he served in a number 
  1-12  of Georgia communities as the senior pastor of local AMEC 
  1-13  churches, including Saint Mark in Wadley, Saint James in 
  1-14  Thomson, and Saint James in Monticello; and 
 
  1-15  WHEREAS, throughout his ministry, he has demonstrated his 
  1-16  deep spiritual convictions, concern for those less 
  1-17  fortunate, commitment to community service, and keen 
  1-18  leadership on contemporary issues; and 
 
  1-19  WHEREAS, the significant influence he has had within his 
  1-20  congregation and in the Savannah community has strengthened 
  1-21  and improved the quality of life for many individuals and 
  1-22  families. 
 
  1-23  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-24  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and 
  1-25  commend Rev. Gregory Vaughn Eason, Sr., for his very 
  1-26  dedicated spiritual leadership to the people of Savannah. 
 
  1-27  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-28  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-29  appropriate copy of this resolution to Rev. Gregory Vaughn
