A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Compensating Ms. Jennifer A. Jones; and for other purposes.
1- 2 WHEREAS, in September, 1998, Ms. Jennifer A. Jones, a
1- 3 resident of Leesburg, Georgia, was enrolled as a student at
1- 4 Darton Community College in Albany, Georgia; and
1- 5 WHEREAS, on September 22, 1998, as Ms. Jones was
1- 6 participating in her required tennis class at the Department
1- 7 of Physical Education building at such college, she stepped
1- 8 on a tennis ball and twisted her ankle; and
1- 9 WHEREAS, as a result of said accident, Ms. Jones tore
1-10 ligaments around her left ankle requiring medical treatment;
1-11 and
1-12 WHEREAS, Ms. Jones suffered personal injury and unreimbursed
1-13 medical expenses in the amount of $879.20; and
1-14 WHEREAS, the accident and loss occurred through no fault or
1-15 negligence on the part of Ms. Jones, and it is only fitting
1-16 and proper that she be compensated for her loss.
1-17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
1-18 GEORGIA that the Board of Regents of the University System
1-19 of Georgia is authorized and directed to pay the sum of
1-20 $879.20 to Ms. Jennifer A. Jones as compensation as provided
1-21 above. Said sum shall be paid from funds appropriated to or
1-22 available to said department and shall be in full and
1-23 complete satisfaction of all claims against the state
1-24 arising out of said occurrence.
