                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Recognizing and commending Kenneth Jarrett; and for other 
  1- 2  purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, Kenneth Jarrett is a senior and well-known athlete 
  1- 4  at Pickens High School who brought fame and honor to his 
  1- 5  school and community as he won two Gold Medals in the State 
  1- 6  High School Judo championships; and 
 
  1- 7  WHEREAS, Kenneth was crowned state champion in the 198-220 
  1- 8  lb. weight classification, and he also won first place in 
  1- 9  the men's open novice division; and 
 
  1-10  WHEREAS, he has demonstrated extraordinary discipline, 
  1-11  determination, and training as a student of judo, and he has 
  1-12  acquired the strength, quickness, and skill demanded in this 
  1-13  competitive sport; and 
 
  1-14  WHEREAS, his tremendous ability, motivation, and resilience 
  1-15  have earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow 
  1-16  students, athletes, and coaches; and 
 
  1-17  WHEREAS, Kenneth is an important member of the Pickens High 
  1-18  School varsity football team where he is an outstanding 
  1-19  tackle and contributed significantly to the Dragon's 
  1-20  successful season; and 
 
  1-21  WHEREAS, his pair of state championship titles qualified 
  1-22  Kenneth for the High School Nationals to be held in Denver, 
  1-23  Colorado, on March 20, 1999, and his accomplishments and 
  1-24  honors merit special recognition and praise. 
 
  1-25  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-26  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and 
  1-27  commend Kenneth Jarrett on winning two Gold Medals in the 
  1-28  State High School Judo championship, and convey their 
  1-29  congratulations and best wishes for the future. 
 
  1-30  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-31  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-32  appropriate copy of this resolution to Kenneth Jarrett.
