A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Commending the Wings Over Dixie Airshow produced by the
1- 2 Dixie Wing of the Confederate Air Force; and for other
1- 3 purposes.
1- 4 WHEREAS, the Wings Over Dixie Airshow is scheduled for
1- 5 September 11 and 12, 1999, at Falcon Field in Peachtree
1- 6 City, Georgia; and
1- 7 WHEREAS, the primary purpose of the event is to raise funds
1- 8 for the restoration and preservation of historic World War
1- 9 II aircraft maintained by the nonprofit Dixie Wing of the
1-10 Confederate Air Force, and the operation of the nonprofit
1-11 Fayette Youth Protection Home for abused children; and
1-12 WHEREAS, the Wings Over Dixie Airshow will reflect credit
1-13 upon the community of Peachtree City, Georgia, and the
1-14 spirit of airshow sponsors, performers and volunteer
1-15 workers; and
1-16 WHEREAS, the airshow will feature pilots and planes of the
1-17 Dixie Wing of the Confederate Air Force, Georgia Air
1-18 National Guard and Reserve units, and civilian aerobatic
1-19 performers from metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia, and its
1-20 surrounds.
1-21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
1-22 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend
1-23 members of the Dixie Wing of the Confederate Air Force for
1-24 their initiative, civic spirit, and organizational skills in
1-25 producing the Wings Over Dixie Airshow for the entertainment
1-26 and educational benefit of Georgia citizens.
1-27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
1-28 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
1-29 appropriate copy of this resolution to Colonel Thomas B.
1-30 Barnes, Wing Leader of the Dixie Wing, Confederate Air
1-31 Force.
