                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending the University of Georgia women's swimming team 
  1- 2  on winning the NCAA swimming and diving championship and 
  1- 3  inviting Coach Jack Bauerle to appear before the House of 
  1- 4  Representatives; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 5  WHEREAS, the University of Georgia Lady Bulldogs made 
  1- 6  national history and earned the university its first NCAA 
  1- 7  Women's Swimming and Diving Championship title in March of 
  1- 8  1999; and 
 
  1- 9  WHEREAS, this long coveted crown was won in the spectacular 
  1-10  Gabrielsen Natatorium at UGA just two years after its 
  1-11  completion, which provided a regal setting for this premier 
  1-12  event; and 
 
  1-13  WHEREAS, three Georgia swimmers also took home individual 
  1-14  national championships: Kristy Kowal won the 200 meter 
  1-15  breaststroke, Keegan Walkley won the 200 meter backstroke, 
  1-16  and Julie Varozza won the 1650 meter freestyle; and 
 
  1-17  WHEREAS, in addition to those titles, Kristy Kowal was named 
  1-18  Swimmer of the Year and Jack Bauerle was named Coach of the 
  1-19  Year for the second straight year in his 20 years as the 
  1-20  director of the women's swimming team; and 
 
  1-21  WHEREAS, the marvelous success of these stellar swimmers 
  1-22  buoyed the spirits of these newly crowned queens of the 
  1-23  collegiate world and promises to bring talented recruits to 
  1-24  this superb sports program for years to come. 
 
  1-25  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-26  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the 
  1-27  University of Georgia women's swimming team on winning the 
  1-28  1999 NCAA title and invite Coach Jack Bauerle to appear 
  1-29  before the House of Representatives at a time to be 
  1-30  determined by the Speaker of the House. 
 
  1-31  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-32  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-33  appropriate copy of this resolution to Coach Jack Bauerle.
