                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending Barbara Spear Jenkins, the winner of the 1998 
  1- 2  Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership; and for other 
  1- 3  purposes. 
 
  1- 4  WHEREAS, the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership 
  1- 5  Program, the first program of its type in the nation to 
  1- 6  honor outstanding students in postsecondary technical 
  1- 7  institutions, spotlights the importance of technical 
  1- 8  training and emphasizes the dignity of work; and 
 
  1- 9  WHEREAS, for 27 years, the GOAL Program has served Georgia 
  1-10  as an excellent example of a true partnership among 
  1-11  business, industry, and education; and 
 
  1-12  WHEREAS, Barbara Spear Jenkins is the recipient of the 1998 
  1-13  Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) for 
  1-14  demonstrating exceptional academic and leadership skills; 
  1-15  and 
 
  1-16  WHEREAS, the state GOAL winner is chosen from among 32 
  1-17  technical institute GOAL winners from throughout the state 
  1-18  to represent the thousands of Georgians benefiting from 
  1-19  technical training; and 
 
  1-20  WHEREAS, Barbara Spear Jenkins is a computer information 
  1-21  systems student enrolled at Thomas Technical Institute and 
  1-22  in pursuing her education, she brought honor to herself, her 
  1-23  family, her school, and the technical system she represents 
  1-24  by being named the state's best technical student in 1998; 
  1-25  and 
 
  1-26  WHEREAS, as the GOAL winner, she is a spokesperson for 
  1-27  technical education and makes public appearances to promote 
  1-28  Georgia's technical education system. 
 
  1-29  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-30  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend 
  1-31  Barbara Spear Jenkins for her outstanding achievements and 
  1-32  convey to her their sincerest best wishes for success in her 
  1-33  future endeavors. 
 
  1-34  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-35  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
