                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending Brenau University's Golden Tiger tennis team on 
  1- 2  winning the 1999 NAIA National Championship and inviting the 
  1- 3  team and Coach Rogers to appear before the House of 
  1- 4  Representatives; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 5  WHEREAS, the Golden Tiger tennis team of Brenau University 
  1- 6  won the school's first-ever NAIA National Championship on 
  1- 7  June 1, 1999, and brought home to the campus and community 
  1- 8  tremendous honor and fame; and 
 
  1- 9  WHEREAS, this championship team also included three 
  1-10  first-team NAIA All-Americans: Marjorie Ferrand, Maiko Noda, 
  1-11  and Leyla Ogan; and Maiko Noda also was named the NAIA 1999 
  1-12  Senior of the Year; and 
 
  1-13  WHEREAS, throughout the season, these young athletes 
  1-14  demonstrated exceptional talent, discipline, and resilience, 
  1-15  and their resolve to win was kindled by the team's third 
  1-16  place in the national championship last year; and 
 
  1-17  WHEREAS, Dr. Bill Rogers, who has been with Brenau for nine 
  1-18  years, was named NAIA Coach of the Year for the second 
  1-19  consecutive year, and his expertise and experience 
  1-20  contributed substantially to the team's superb success; and 
 
  1-21  WHEREAS, Brenau's National Championship team included: Libby 
  1-22  Fletcher, Marjorie Ferrand, Leyla Ogan, Runumee Das, Maiko 
  1-23  Noda, and Shan Liew. 
 
  1-24  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-25  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Brenau 
  1-26  University's Golden Tiger tennis team on winning their first 
  1-27  NAIA national title and convey to the team and Coach Rogers 
  1-28  their heartiest congratulations and best wishes. 
 
  1-29  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the 1999 Golden 
  1-30  Tigers tennis team of Brenau University and Coach Bill 
  1-31  Rogers are invited to appear before the House of 
  1-32  Representatives at a time to be determined by the Speaker. 
 
  1-33  IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-34  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-35  appropriate copy of this resolution to Coach Rogers.
