                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending Andy Baumgartner, 1999 National Teacher of the 
  1- 2  Year, and inviting him to appear before the House of 
  1- 3  Representatives; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 4  WHEREAS, Andy Baumgartner, Georgia's 1999 Kindergarten 
  1- 5  Teacher of the Year, epitomizes the excellent teacher and 
  1- 6  was named the 1999 National Teacher of the Year in 
  1- 7  recognition of his talent; and 
 
  1- 8  WHEREAS, this highly respected teacher has served with honor 
  1- 9  and distinction as a professional educator in the Richmond 
  1-10  County School System since 1982 and has taught at A. Brian 
  1-11  Merry Elementary School since 1995; and 
 
  1-12  WHEREAS, his outstanding teaching of our youngest students 
  1-13  and his passionate commitment to excellence in public 
  1-14  education have contributed significantly to improving 
  1-15  Georgia's education foundation and he serves as a model for 
  1-16  educators in any state; and 
 
  1-17  WHEREAS, he is a superb example of the significant impact 
  1-18  that dedicated classroom teachers are making on the quality 
  1-19  of education received by students across the country, and it 
  1-20  is abundantly fitting that his national recognition and 
  1-21  accomplishments be appropriately honored. 
 
  1-22  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-23  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Andy 
  1-24  Baumgartner upon his selection as the 1999 National Teacher 
  1-25  of the Year and convey to him their appreciation for his 
  1-26  diligence, creativity, and commitment to public education in 
  1-27  Georgia. 
 
  1-28  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Andy Baumgartner is invited to 
  1-29  appear before the House of Representatives at a time to be 
  1-30  determined by the Speaker. 
 
  1-31  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-32  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-33  appropriate copy of this resolution to Andy Baumgartner.
