A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Recognizing "Registered Professional Nurse Day"; and for
1- 2 other purposes.
1- 3 WHEREAS, there are over 80,000 registered professional
1- 4 nurses licensed by the Georgia Board of Nursing; and
1- 5 WHEREAS, registered professional nurses work in every county
1- 6 within the State of Georgia and are found in every possible
1- 7 health care setting, including hospitals, public health
1- 8 clinics, industry, schools, home health delivery, nursing
1- 9 homes, education, the military, and many other sites; and in
1-10 these settings they provide quality and cost-effective care;
1-11 and
1-12 WHEREAS, registered professional nurses perform a broad
1-13 range of activities, ranging from meeting the most basic
1-14 patient needs to providing the services delivered by
1-15 registered professional nurses in advanced practice who work
1-16 as nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives, certified
1-17 registered nurse anesthetists, or clinical nurse specialists
1-18 in psychiatric/mental health; and
1-19 WHEREAS, regardless of the scope of practice or practice
1-20 setting, the registered professional nurse has an
1-21 outstanding record of service and dedication to improving
1-22 the health status of all Georgians; and
1-23 WHEREAS, the Georgia Nurses Association is the professional
1-24 organization of this state's registered professional nurses;
1-25 and
1-26 WHEREAS, the Georgia Nurses Association is holding a
1-27 legislative visitation day at the State Capitol on January
1-28 27, 2000, which will conclude with a reception to honor
1-29 members of the Georgia General Assembly that evening; and
1-30 WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper for the Georgia House of
1-31 Representatives to recognize the many contributions and
1-32 accomplishments of the members of the Georgia Nurses
1-33 Association and the thousands of registered professional
1-34 nurses throughout this state.

2- 1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
2- 2 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize
2- 3 these facts by designating January 27, 2000, as "Registered
2- 4 Professional Nurse Day."
2- 5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
2- 6 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
2- 7 appropriate copy of this resolution to the Georgia Nurses
2- 8 Association.
