                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Recognizing and commending the Tattnall Square Academy drama 
  1- 2  department and inviting honor students and the Drama 
  1- 3  Director Brent Young to appear before the House of 
  1- 4  Representatives; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 5  WHEREAS, Tattnall Square Academy in Macon, Georgia, has a 
  1- 6  reputation for educational excellence, and the drama 
  1- 7  department added to the school's proud tradition by winning 
  1- 8  the GISA State AAA Award for One-Act Productions for 1998; 
  1- 9  and 
 
  1-10  WHEREAS, under the enthusiastic leadership of Drama Director 
  1-11  Brent Young, who joined the faculty at the Academy only two 
  1-12  years ago, 70 students performed the London Musical, "Blood 
  1-13  Brothers", and won the Region 2 AAA competition on November 
  1-14  4, 1998, at Middle Georgia College and then took home the 
  1-15  State AAA Award on November 11, 1998; and 
 
  1-16  WHEREAS, these young stars later performed at the Grand Old 
  1-17  Opera House in Macon to community audiences and brought 
  1-18  considerable fame and honor to their school and its drama 
  1-19  program; and 
 
  1-20  WHEREAS, during the last two years, the drama department has 
  1-21  expanded its programs to include 150 students interested in 
  1-22  exposure to the performing arts, particularly drama, music, 
  1-23  and choral training; and 
 
  1-24  WHEREAS, Tattnall Square Academy won three of the five state 
  1-25  awards for best performance, and Haley Burns, Josh Simonton, 
  1-26  and Bryce McCuin deserve special recognition for their 
  1-27  outstanding efforts and accomplishments; and 
 
  1-28  WHEREAS, the Academy's excellent record could not have been 
  1-29  attained without the very dedicated efforts of Music 
  1-30  Director Vicky Williams, and the guidance and encouragement 
  1-31  provided by Brent Young who was named 1998 Best Director. 
 
  1-32  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-33  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend 
  1-34  Tattnall Square Academy on winning the GISA One-Act 
  1-35  Production Award for 1998 and convey to the drama department

  2- 1  and the students their heartiest congratulations and best 
  2- 2  wishes. 
 
  2- 3  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Tattnall Square Academy Drama 
  2- 4  Director Brent Young and the students who won state awards 
  2- 5  for best performance be honored and invited to appear before 
  2- 6  the House of Representatives at a date and time to be 
  2- 7  determined by the Speaker of the House of Representatives. 
 
  2- 8  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  2- 9  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  2-10  appropriate copy of this resolution to Brent Young, Drama
