                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Compensating Dr. Barbara H. Bryant; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 2  WHEREAS, on January 30, 1997, Dr. Barbara H. Bryant, a 
  1- 3  resident of Albany, Georgia, was attending a conference at 
  1- 4  Albany State University in Albany, Georgia; and 
 
  1- 5  WHEREAS, as she was walking down outside wooden stairs, she 
  1- 6  caught her shoe in a crack in a wooden stair which caused 
  1- 7  her to fall; and 
 
  1- 8  WHEREAS, as a result of said accident, Dr. Bryant injured 
  1- 9  both knees and her back, requiring medical treatment; and 
 
  1-10  WHEREAS, she received treatment and physical therapy at 
  1-11  Phoebe Putney Hospital and from other sources; and 
 
  1-12  WHEREAS, Dr. Bryant suffered personal injury and 
  1-13  unreimbursed medical expenses in the amount of $9,528.79; 
  1-14  and 
 
  1-15  WHEREAS, the accident and loss occurred through no fault or 
  1-16  negligence on the part of Dr. Bryant, and it is only fitting 
  1-17  and proper that she be compensated for her loss. 
 
  1-18  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF 
  1-19  GEORGIA that the Board of Regents of the University System 
  1-20  of Georgia is authorized and directed to pay the sum of 
  1-21  $9,528.79 to Dr. Barbara H. Bryant as compensation as 
  1-22  provided above.  Said sum shall be paid from funds 
  1-23  appropriated to or available to said department and shall be 
  1-24  in full and complete satisfaction of all claims against the 
  1-25  state arising out of said occurrence.
