                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending Ms. Virginia Fears Kimble, Henry County Teacher 
  1- 2  of the Year 2000; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, Ms. Virginia Fears Kimble, music teacher at Wesley 
  1- 4  Lakes Elementary School and a 19 year teaching veteran, has 
  1- 5  been named Henry County Teacher of the Year 2000; and 
 
  1- 6  WHEREAS, this native of Butts County was one of eight 
  1- 7  children, and although her family was poor, it placed a high 
  1- 8  value on education; and 
 
  1- 9  WHEREAS, Ms. Kimble began piano lessons at age 11, and only 
  1-10  four years later she was hired by a church to play piano and 
  1-11  teach songs to children; later, she attended Gordon College 
  1-12  and went on to study music at West Georgia College, where 
  1-13  she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees; and 
 
  1-14  WHEREAS, teaching is her first love, and, as she stated, "it 
  1-15  brings the reward of knowing that one has touched another's 
  1-16  life and influenced the future"; and 
 
  1-17  WHEREAS, this outstanding educator approaches each school 
  1-18  day with a sense of joy and excitement, knowing that 
  1-19  wonderful things can and do happen when teachers and 
  1-20  students work together to learn; and 
 
  1-21  WHEREAS, Ms. Kimble's talent, skill, and dedication to her 
  1-22  calling have been evident throughout her career, and she was 
  1-23  previously honored as a Teacher of the Year in Pike County 
  1-24  and Spalding County; and 
 
  1-25  WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that this outstanding 
  1-26  educator be recognized by this body. 
 
  1-27  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-28  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Ms. 
  1-29  Virginia Fears Kimble for her outstanding  achievements and 
  1-30  contributions to the welfare of this state. 
 
  1-31  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-32  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-33  appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Virginia Fears 
  1-34  Kimble.
