                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending Danielle Sered on being named a Rhodes Scholar 
  1- 2  and inviting her to appear before the House of 
  1- 3  Representatives; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 4  WHEREAS, Danielle Sered is the only person studying in 
  1- 5  Georgia who was selected in 1999 to receive a coveted Rhodes 
  1- 6  Scholarship to pursue graduate study at Oxford University, 
  1- 7  which is considered one of the world's foremost 
  1- 8  universities; and 
 
  1- 9  WHEREAS, Ms. Sered also holds the distinct honor of being 
  1-10  the first female undergraduate from Emory University to win 
  1-11  the scholarship, and she is the sixteenth Rhodes Scholar 
  1-12  ever selected from that fine institution; and 
 
  1-13  WHEREAS, Danielle Sered is majoring in English, with a minor 
  1-14  in French, and will pursue her master's degree in English at 
  1-15  Oxford, with particular emphasis on contemporary Irish 
  1-16  literature; and 
 
  1-17  WHEREAS, this exceptional young scholar has consistently 
  1-18  demonstrated superlative academic abilities and motivation, 
  1-19  and her accomplishments, integrity, and leadership made her 
  1-20  an ideal candidate for this prestigious scholarship and a 
  1-21  most deserving recipient. 
 
  1-22  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-23  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend 
  1-24  Danielle Sered on the momentous occasion of being selected 
  1-25  as a Rhodes Scholar for 1999 and convey to her and her 
  1-26  family their heartiest congratulations and their best wishes 
  1-27  to Ms. Sered in her future pursuits. 
 
  1-28  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Danielle Sered is invited to 
  1-29  appear before the House of Representatives at a date and 
  1-30  time to be determined by the Speaker of the House of 
  1-31  Representatives. 
 
  1-32  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-33  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-34  appropriate copy of this resolution to Danielle Sered.
